近几年来，我国已有一种由玻璃纤维构成的人造猫眼石戒面在市场上销售，其颜色有红、蓝、淡绿及褐黄色，其中带褐黄色的品种有些像天然猫眼宝石，有些镶在亚金或白银戒台上，戴在手上甚至真假难分。若从其售价低廉来判断其属人造品是很容易的，但若有人将其冒称真品而大大抬高售价时，如何能迅速加以判别呢？其主要区别在于：
（1）当转动戒面时，人造猫眼石在弧形顶端可同时出现2-3条亮带，而天然猫眼石仅有一条亮带。
（2）天然猫眼石能显活光，而人造品则显得呆板而缺乏美感。
